The Gay Straight Alliance is a student club dedicated to making sure that all students, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, feel safe on our campus. There are

hundreds of GSAs in high schools across the US. GSA is not trying to tell people they should live their lives a certain way.  We simply want to accept people as they are.

Some of our activities have included:

* participating in the SacValley AIDS walk

* sponsoring a needy family for the holidays, through STEAC

* speaking to the faculty on the effects of verbal harassment, and

how to stop it in the classroom

*raising awareness through participation in the "National Day of Silence"

Questions?  Stop by and talk to Mrs. Scott, C403,

or email  ascott@wjusd.org.  I respect your confidentiality.

The harassment and isolation sometimes endured by gay or questioning teens puts them at increased risk of suicide.  If you or someone you know is in trouble, tell a trusted adult, such as a parent, coach, teacher, school nurse or counselor.  You can also call the confidential toll-free number at the left, or visit: www.thetrevorproject.org
