Guide to Remind101 for Mr. Bayne

Welcome from the ACES Academy of Computer Engineering Sciences, the Cisco Networking Academy at Pioneer High School, Yolo County ROP, and the PHS SkillsUSA Chapter!

As you can see, I wear many hats. Often your child will not realize which of those I'll be working with; all are designed to help your child do better in school and in their future careers.

In the syllabus, I referenced several tools I will use to contact families about events and general information. I wanted to highlight a few here.

  • Remind101 is a Text message service. I will use it to send text messages to subscribers (messaging fees may apply on the receiver's end). Parents and students may subscribe. To subscribe to text alerts:
    • Send a text to (530)419-6573 with the @ symbol (see below) for the group. Feel free to subscribe to any or all you choose to use:
      • IT Essentials: @ite2013
      • CCNA1: @ccna1
      • CCNA3: @ccna3
      • PHS SkillsUSA (which all of my students are automatically members of): @phssk
    • You can also subscribe via email (I do both for the classes I'm taking). Simply send an email to the code above to For instance, to subscribe to the SkillsUSA group, email "" (no quotes). You can leave the message blank.
      • I prepared a webcast with instructions for Remind101, for those who prefer that format:

We also are on Facebook (, Twitter @phsskillsusa. Once enough kids use it, we'll also be on Google+ (and any other site they use).

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the program. Most questions were hopefully answered in the syllabus, but I'm always here to answer questions you might have.

We're going to have a great year!
